Boston, September 12, 2018 – The world is migrating to a real-time payments ecosystem in which card-based transactions can move nearly as quickly as cash moves from one person to another. This revolutionary change has the potential to reshape the way businesses interact with their customers and with each other, and the demand is clearly there with merchants.

This report explores the current situation with merchant disbursements for small and midsize merchants, merchant awareness of and interest in real-time payments, and how that functionality might change the way merchants do business. It is based on a Q4 2017 Aite Group and Visa Inc. survey of 154 small merchants in the U.S. and Canada with annual revenue between US$100,000 and US$10 million.
