London, 22 April 2013 – New research from Aite Group reveals the solutions offered by current treasury management system (TMS) players and assesses their readiness to develop into fully deployed treasury intelligence management systems (TiMSs). The results are mapped on Aite Group's TiMS Readiness Index Matrix.
Aite Group’s report on TMS systems identifies 10 domains from which a corporate treasurer can extract information and turn it into intelligence, thus getting the appropriate support for decision-making. These 10 areas also build the new ecosystem of a TiMS. While no solution vendor in the market currently provides a full portfolio of TiMS features, many are moving toward providing such offerings in the future. TMS vendors are already expanding their TMS platforms into areas that constitute the TiMS ecosystem.
While this report profiles several "traditional" TMS vendors, TMS vendors are not the only competitors in this race. This report also identifies four "new entrant" vendors that possess the "missing" parts that a TMS needs to grow into a TiMS. These vendors offer treasury solutions that fulfill the more specific and mission-critical needs of treasurers (e.g., hedge risk management, investment vehicles, cash management and supply chain finance, FX and money market management, cash flow analysis). "Traditional" TMS vendors seeking to take a lead position in the race to TiMS can then decide which items they need to add to their current product portfolios.
The report addresses each of the 10 TiMS ecosystem areas and profiles 11 vendors, assessing their TiMS functionality using the Aite Group TiMS Readiness Index.
"TMS vendors are not the only competitors in the race, and vendors that provide the TiMS ‘missing parts’ are themselves credible entities with an opportunity to play a role in the future TiMS market,” says Enrico Camerinelli, senior analyst in Wholesale Banking at Aite Group.
