London, 27 September 2018 – The European Council adopted the new Shareholder Rights Directive (SRD II) in June 2017 with the view of encouraging shareholder engagement in listed companies in Europe and improving the transparency of related processes, including proxy voting. But SRD II comes into force when many other large and complex regulations will also be in flight, and many firms are likely to have missed out on SRD consultation opportunities with regulators.
