Nancy Atkinson is a senior analyst with more than 20 years of experience in wholesale banking. She specializes in straight-through business-to-business (B2B) payments processing issues and the technology supporting them, viewing the industry from a global perspective. Her research includes end-user surveys of large corporations and middle-market companies.
Ms. Atkinson has been widely quoted in both the mainstream and industry trade press, including the Associated Press, The New York Times, thestreet.com, The Green Sheet, and U.S. Banker. She is a regular contributor to Financial-i magazine, has written several articles for gtnews and other publications, and has participated as a reviewer for a number of industry awards. She has spoken at industry events such as the AFP annual conference, Sibos, and NACHA's annual payments conference.
Prior to joining Aite Group, Ms. Atkinson was a first vice president of institutional marketing at Mellon Bank. During her tenure at Mellon, she developed new products and services, focused on cross-selling institutional services, and introduced new e-commerce-supported services. She worked extensively in global cash management and with Mellon Lab and Online Services, and supported electronic payment products, including wire transfer, Automated Clearing House (ACH), electronic data interchange, and the private-labeled business of treasury services.
Ms. Atkinson is a former vice chairperson of the NACHA Cross-Border ACH Council that developed U.S.-Canada-Mexico cross-border ACH capabilities. She is also a former executive committee member of the Financial Services Technology Consortium (FSTC), where she prototyped the Bank Internet Payment System (BIPS), an early XML-based payment protocol.
Ms. Atkinson is a Certified Cash Manager and a formerly Accredited Automated Clearing House Professional. She holds an M.B.A. from Cornell University and a B.A. from William Smith College.
